Abstract/Summary:
The major issue addressed in this study is to describe a need of independence for healthy growth of the Philippine United Methodist Church from United Methodist Church in America. The author has examined biblical cases of independence throughout Paul's mission strategy.; The author has discussed mission theologians' theories concerning church growth by independence and found Ralph D. Winter's “Developing Principles through Churches' Independence” theory and Peter C. Wagner's “Four Development Stages for Mission Churches”.; The author, as a cross-cultural missionary, found the Dasmarinas United Methodist Church in Cavite, Philippines and helped her grow through the principles of independence for years. He also described and analyzed his theory through his personal missionary experiences and suggests practical guidelines for Philippine mission churches' way for healthy and meaningful growth.
