Abstract/Summary:
This research has a two-fold purpose. The first is to explore the theological and conceptual framework for formulating a contextual mission theology for the Chinese by using an interdisciplinary approach of biblical, theological and cultural studies. The second is to explore the missiological implications of that contextual Mission theology in formulating culturally relevant mission strategies.; The researcher has posed two research questions to achieve the stated purpose: (1) Is the Chinese cultural value QinQin appropriate for formulating a contextual mission theology that is biblically based, theologically sound, and culturally relevant? (2) What are the precise content and missiological implications of a QinQin Mission Theology (herein after refer to as QQMT) understood in terms of the QinQin in Chinese context?; Following the guidelines derived from the literature review, the researcher applied an interdisciplinary study of biblical paradigm, biblical teaching of the intra-trinitarian relationship, and Chinese QinQin to formulate the theological and conceptual framework of QQMT. By using this framework, the contextual Chinese QQMT in response to the research questions has been developed.; An ethnographic research was designed to enrich the author's understanding of Chinese QinQin in the city of Taitung, Taiwan. Participant observations and directive interviews were employed to collect data. The data have been analyzed qualitatively to derive missiological themes. By integrating and comparing these themes with QQMT, the researcher has suggested several culturally relevant mission strategies for Taitung, Taiwan.; The researcher has come to several conclusions; (1) Using an interdisciplinary approach that is both Christ-centered and trinitarian, formulating a contextual mission theology for the Chinese is viable; (2) QQMT is a God-centered and holistic contextual mission theology that focuses on the intra-trinitarian relationship, its missiological meaning to man, and God's works in creation-salvation-sanctification.; Further applications to different cultural contexts and further studies on other "QinQin" relationships (such as God-angel and God-man-nature relationships) are recommended.
