Abstract/Summary:
In this dissertation, a unified approach using the delta operators is introduced. A validity of the delta operator approach is examined through the feedback controller design, the linear quadratic regulator design and the H-infinity controller design. At the end of this dissertation, a breakthrough method for rationalization of the time delay systems using the delta operator approach is explored.; A unified approach using the delta operators offers some distinct benefits as follows: First, this approach unifies both continuous and discrete systems in its expression. Second, its continuous-like form reduces lots of the terms of the discrete systems, which reduces the 'flops' in the numerical computation. Third, its enlarged stability circle enhances the resolution, so that the problem of crowded poles in the discrete systems can be disappeared. Fourth, the delta operator approach shows an excellent finite word-length characteristic in the numerical computation. Thus this reduces the round-off errors.; At the end of the each chapter, the corresponding examples illustrate the validity of some advantages of a unified approach using the delta operators.
