Abstract/Summary:
This dissertation is research focusing on the dynamic relationship between the Senior Pastor and members of his staff in a Chinese church. The purpose of the studies is to surface ideas and information that will help pastors in Chinese churches to improve the working relationships between themselves and members of their staffs. It seeks to answer the question, "What positive actions can Senior Pastors of Chinese churches take to help build healthy relationships between themselves and members of their Staff?"; In order to help focus the studies, 5 major areas are examined via on-site observations, examination of church documents, and personal interviews with the Senior Pastor, members of his pastoral staff, and key lay leaders in the church. These 5 areas are the Senior Pastor's leadership style, communication style, conflict resolution style, way of handling cultural issues, and his role in the hiring process.; These studies surface a number of action items that a Senior Pastor should do so he can build positive relationships between himself and members of his staff.; Included in this study are recommendations for future study in this field.
