Abstract/Summary:
In recent times, an important number of companies from developing countries have began to do foreign direct investment in other nations. Like those from Asia, the number of Latin American multinational corporations has increased exponentially since the early nineties. Colombian Multinationals (CMs), in particular, have expanded operations into Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Mexico and other countries around the world. The motivations and objectives of these investments; the management and operation challenges of CMs, as well as the competitive advantages of these companies are fully documented and explained. Other issues include government policies in host and home countries toward CMs, and the relation between these foreign direct investments and trade.
