The characteristics of an axisymmetric air jet with a fully developed pipe flow exit condition impinging vertically onto a flat plate has been investigated experimentally using hot-wire anemometry and flow visualization. The jet to plate spacings ranged from one to five jet diameters and Reynold numbers (based on jet centerline velocity and jet diameter) varied from 40 to 23,000. A method for conditional sampling and phase averaging was developed for the eduction of the large coherent structures in the jet nearfield. For Re... |
