Abstract/Summary:
X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) studies have been carried out on (Mg,Fe)SiO;A systematic study has been carried out on twin-domain structures in analogue compounds with the Pbnm perovskite structure after various SPTs. A correlation between domain morphology and types of SPTs (i.e., different symmetry loss during the transitions) is observed. This study, combined with group-theoretical constraints, supports the suggestions that the twin-domain-structure variation in silicate perovskite reflects SPTs upon quenching.
