Abstract/Summary:
A simulation package, CGL{dollar}sb-{dollar}Sim v 1.0, was developed for the design of three-phase reactors on microcomputers. The CGL{dollar}sb-{dollar}Sim package was exclusively developed to solve gas-liquid-solid reactor design cases where the solid acts as a catalyst. The mathematical model incorporates component mole balances, total energy balance and momentum balance which will simulate the following types of three-phase reactors: trickle-beds, bubble fixed-beds with cocurrent up-flow, suspended-beds with mechanical or bubble agitation (either continuous or semi-batch operation modes) and three-phase fluidized-beds. These balances include hydrodynamic and design parameters, and process constant correlations such as pressure drop, liquid and gas holdup, mass and heat transfer correlations and catalytic effectiveness factors for multi-reaction, non-isothermal/non-adiabatic systems. The package is equipped with other features such as user-friendly input/output screens, output redirection options and graphical representation of output data.; The "CGL{dollar}sb-{dollar}Sim" simulation package was programmed using Quick Basic v7.1 and can run on any IBM compatible microcomputer with at least 4 MB RAM memory. Size of the compiled version of CGL{dollar}sb-{dollar}Sim is 350 KB.
