Abstract/Summary:
Practicum three. Equilibrium constants, acid dissociation constants, and water coordination numbers of two new triaza-cyclononane derivatives (NOTMA, NOTPA), of interest in MRI imaging, have been determined using spectrophotometric, nuclear magnetic relaxation measurements and phosphorescence lifetimes. The first shows an increase in the water coordination number resulting in improved relaxivity of complexes, while steric interactions decreases the dissociation rate. The second compound demonstrates the importance of five membered rings in this type of chelates.;Practicum two. The industrial Practicum report on "Fines and Pore Space Characterization of an Unconsolidated Oil Formation" describes the development and testing of analytical methods for determining permeability, relative permeability and formation damage for loose sand formations.;Practicum one. The work concerning "Gassification and Characterization of Highly Ordered Pyrolytic Graphite Edges" relates procedures used to prepare homogeneous, smooth edges of graphite free from surface planes.
