The effect of fiber reinforcement on the fatigue properties of elastomers was investigated. Unidirectional and cross-ply composites were fabricated using Tecoflex;A twelve-station compressive fatigue test apparatus was constructed to allow for evaluation of these materials under physiologically-relevant loading conditions. The compressive fatigue properties of the fiber-reinforced elastomers were compared to those of two unreinforced elastomers, Tecoflex;A series of fatigue tests was performed at 5-6 MPa to assess effect of fiber type, and orientation on fatigue properties. Fiber-reinforcement of the Tecoflex;Based on these results, the effect of varying fiber-volume fraction on the fatigue resistance of this "best" composite design were investigated. Tecoflex...
