| Results of an experimental and analytical study of the use of heat pipes for dissipating the high heat flux and high power in temperature range between ambient and 100;A simplified one-dimensional, two phase model for predicting the effect of binary mixture working fluid composition on the dryout heat flux in a related wicking experiment was developed. The model geometry is based on experiments previously performed on a structure similar to a heat pipe but with the wick on the outside of the tube. The binary system considered was ethanol-water. Predicted dryout heat fluxes agreed with experimental results to within 20% for the data available for sintered wicks. Although mixture properties were seen to be important in determining the dryout heat flux for binary mixtures, the dryout heat flux was predicted to be monotonically decreasing as the working fluid composition increased from x... |
