Abstract/Summary:
Purpose. The primary purpose of this study was to develop a program model for secondary agricultural education programs in Thailand. The importance of goals, basic principles, and program standards as perceived by head secondary agriculture teachers provided the basis for development of the conceptual model.;Procedure. The study was descriptive in nature. Six research questions were developed to guide the study. Two null hypotheses were tested at the.05 level. Ho;Findings. There was general agreement among respondents regarding the goals, basic principles, and standards for secondary agricultural education programs in Thailand. A Mann-Whitney U test procedure indicated significant differences on one goal statement, one basic principle statement, and seven program standard statements. Ho;Conclusions. (a) The goals, basic principles, and standards, for secondary agricultural education program can be illustrated in the form of a conceptual model. (b) There is general agreement among head secondary agriculture teachers in Thailand regarding the goals, basic principles, and standards for secondary agricultural education programs. (c) Secondary agricultural education programs in rural Thailand have the potential to contribute to development efforts in local communities through leadership development, agricultural employment, and entrepreneurship education.
