Abstract/Summary:
This descriptive quantitative research study was undertaken to determine if leadership behaviors at Choice Community College differed between employee groups (by professional level) and within groups as a result of participation in a "Grow-Your-Own" (GYO) leadership development program formerly offered by the college. The Everything DiSC Work of LeadersRTM assessment was administered to 75 employees across all levels of the institution, examining six sample group populations -- executive, middle management, faculty, academic support, campus support, and facilities/maintenance. The study focused on 18 best practice leadership behaviors and compared the results obtained from each population with the others. In addition, within each sample population, this study examined and compared the results of those that had participated in the former GYO leadership program to the results of those who did not participate in the program. The data obtained from this research study may assist Choice Community College by identifying leadership behavioral gaps between and within its employee populations and may drive future GYO professional development initiatives to cultivate college "leaders at all levels." Further, it may provide a basis for additional in-depth research examining the relationship of the 18 Everything DiSC Work of LeadersRTM best practice behaviors to the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Competencies for Community College Leaders.
