The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between college students who participate in leadership initiatives and their levels of political and social activism. The researcher utilized the 2015 Multi-Institutional Study of Leadership (MSL) data, a research project that examines the impact of leadership development in higher education. With 77,489 respondents, from 97 higher education institutions in the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Australia, the researcher analyzed the data through a Pearson's chi-square cross tabulation data analysis using an adapted version of Astin's (1993) Input-Environment-Outcome college impact model in order to help explain the relationship between the independent variables and the dependent variable. The researcher discovered that there is a statistically significant relationship between students who participate in leadership initiatives and their levels of political and social activism. |
