Marx and Engels always take care of the relationship between human society and the natural environment under the ideological theme of criticizing the capitalist social system and striving for the proletarian liberation and all mankind liberation, and put forward their rich ecological thought. The contemporary Western ecological thoughts which are equally colorful can be divided into three kinds of ecological trends of thought:"Red-Green" trend of thought,"Dark-Green" trend of thought and "Light-Green" trend of thought.Tracing back the theoretical sources of three Western ecological trends of thought and combing the main theories in the historical evolution of three Western ecological trends of thought,it can be seen that"Red-Green" trend of thought is the ecological trend of thought produced by the evolution of Marx and Engels's ecological thought in the West,"Dark-Green" trend of thought is the ecological trend of thought produced by the evolution of Eco-centrism in the West, and "Light-Green" trend of thought is the ecological trend of thought produced by the evolution of Ecological Capitalism in the West.Through the comparative study of Marx and Engels's ecological thought and the three Western ecological trends of thought such as "Red-Green" trend of thought,"Dark-Green"trend of thought and "Light-Green" trend of thought,it can be seen that Marx and Engels's ecological thought has both commonalities and differences with three Western ecological trends of thought,it can be seen that three Western ecological trends of thought are both meaningful and limited, and it can be seen that Marx and Engels's ecological thought has superiority over three Western ecological trends of thought. This kind of superiority of Marx and Engels's ecological thought is mainly reflected in the philosophical foundation of the Historical Materialism,in the revealing of the dialectical relationship on the interaction and mutual restraint between man and nature,in the theoretical transcendence of the binary opposition between Anthropocentrism and Eco-centrism on this basis,in the profound understanding of the social and historical roots of ecological problems,in the profound critique of the irrational social system of Capitalism, and in the argument and prospect of the real reconciliation between man and nature in the ideal society of Communism.Through the comparative study of Marx and Engels 's ecological thought and three Western ecological trends of thought,we can get implications on the development of theory and practice of ecological civilization in China. In terms of theory, the comparative study of Marx and Engels's ecological thought and three Western ecological trends of thought indicates that the development of ecological civilization theory in our country must adhere to the theoretical foundation of Marx and Engels's ecological thought, needs to learn from the beneficial ecological values and beneficial measures of these three Western ecological thoughts, and needs to realize Marxism's sublation of various thinking resources about ecological civilization in the process of social development;in terms of practice, the comparative study of Marx and Engels's ecological thought and three Western ecological trends of thought suggests that the construction of ecological civilization in our country needs to deepen the reform of the ecological civilization system to maintain the ecological rights of the public, needs to coordinate the construction of an ecological society to build a pluralistic and collaborative environmental governance system, and needs to carry out ecological diplomacy actively to realize the development of global construction of ecological civilization with other countries.
