Analysis On The Regional And Differentiated Impact Of Ginkgo On Economy-society Development

This analysis focuses mainly on the differentiated impacts of Ginkgo resource on regional economic and social development from the resource geography perspective.Literature in this filed point out that the effect of Ginkgo resources in the social-economic development relies,not solely on its economic value,social value as well as ecological value,but more importantly,on its comprehensive social-economic benefits.This is because there is a close link and interconnected impacts between regional social-economic development and the value of Ginkgo resources.Therefore,it is useful and necessary to conduct simultaneously the one-way comprehensive impact assessment analysis.In addition,it is also critically significant to carry out a coupling and interaction evaluation analysis.This analysis attempts to take the featured ginkgo resource as the starting point.Its objectives are twofold:firstly,it aims at constructing a systematical framework and methodology system for a comprehensive evaluation of characteristic forestry resources-based regional economic and social development.Secondly,it attempts to have a full understanding on the role and position of characteristic ginkgo resources in facilitating at,and promoting the regional economic and social development.Oriented by these objectives,we collected the second forest resource survey data in Tai Zhou city,Jiangsu province,and the high quality geographical image data in 2014,which provide with crucial data resources for this analysis.Concerning the data proceeding,we first built the interpretation marks as well as verification samples for Ginkgo resources based on the 2014 dataset.Second,we further applied the maximum likelihood estimation technique to generate the vector data for Ginkgo resources based on the Ginkgo relevant TM remote-sensing images in 2005 and 2014 in Taizhou city.By doing the procedures mentioned above,we obtained the necessary crucial dataset for this analysis.The main findings are as follows:a)Theoretically,we constructed a comprehensive analysis framework for the inquiring as well as its relevant assessing on the contribution of Ginkgo resources in regional social and economic development,by referring resource economics and regional economic theories,and by integrating two dominant methods:namely,the natural resource value evaluation as well as social economic benefit index comprehensive assessment analysis.The developed assessment indictor system comprises of not only the social and economic value evaluation of Ginkgo resources in the natural system.More importantly,it contains the comprehensive benefit evaluation of ginkgo industry in the social economic system.On the one hand,the developed index system is measured by traditional resource value assessment method,namely in specific monetary patterns.On the other hand,it is indexed by other more comprehensive ways,which are beyond money measurements,including the comprehensive economic,social and ecological benefits based measurement strategies.A one-way impact assessment model and an interactively coupling model is further developed based on the previously constructed framework.b)The distribution of ginkgo resources in Taizhou city is extremely uneven;with a dominant perception distributed in districts of Taixing and Jiangyan,and the main component in these two regions is pure Ginkgo forest.Meanwhile,the past decade did not witness a significant spatial variation of ginkgo planting areas throughout Taizhou cit.From the time perspective,the overall area remains decreasing in the past decade,and the decrease rate in the first five years is faster than the last five years.c)The economic value of ginkgo resource accounts to a major percent(with a percent of over 88 per cent on average)in the gross values of economic,social and ecological composition.In addition,it is estimated that in 2005,2009 and 2014,the economic value of Ginkgo biloba resources in Taizhou city were 11.157 billion Yuan,14.528 billion Yuan and 18.337 billion Yuan.Regarding its proportion in GDP in Taizhou city in 2005,2009 and 2014,the figures are 5.04%,3.75%and 2.73%respectively in Jiangyan.In contrast,the figures in Xinghua City are 3.58%and 4.26%and 3.84%.The percentages are generally smaller in Jinjiang than the above two regions,with the figures being 2.12%,1.71%and 1.50%respectively.d)Concerning the contribution of Ginkgo resource in regional GDP development,we collected relevant yearly data in 2005 and 2014,and conducted systematical analysis.It was found that the contribution of Ginkgo resource in the process of GDP development has eventually narrowed down in the past decade for three reasons:first,the overall economic scale has been decreasing.Second,the increase rate of Ginkgo'economic valus is slower than the GDP growth rate in Taizhou.Third,it is because there have a substitution effect between Ginkgo resource and other economic forest resources in promoting the growth of GDP.e)We further calculated the comprehensive values including the economic,social and ecological values for Ginkgo resource,and found that during the past decade,the overall value of Ginkgo resource has been increasing.Given that the economic values are the main component for the overall Ginko value,and which depends heavily on its endowment,the findings above demonstrated that the social and economic development is over depend on the economic values of the raw Ginkgo products,but pays much less attention to its processing products.Furthermore,despite the overall value of Ginko resources has been increasing,its increasing rate has been slow down,and is negatively correlated with its endowment,indicating that the marginal benefit of Ginko resource has been decreasing.
