Multiple Sclerosis(MS)is a chronic disease that destroys the central nervous system of the brain and spinal cord.In this paper,the author using Magnetic Resonance Imaging technique,respectively,from MS white matter hyperintensity lesion segmentation,brain perfusion levels,cerebral microbleeds(CMBs)and the iron content in basal ganglia tissue etc.quantitative analysis techniques,proposed a set of new method to assist doctor or researchers in MS diagnosis,evaluation,screening and monitoring.In this paper,the author first reviewed and analyzed the development of related technologies and introduced the two aspects of automatic segmentation and quantitative susceptibility mapping(QSM)of hemorrhage in high sclerosis disease.The main contribution of this dissertation can be summarized as follows:First,to assist radiologist diagnosis and monitoring the change of white matter hyperintensity(WMH)lesion in MS patients,the author proposed an automatic WMH detection and measurement by using 3D FLAIR(Fluid Attenuation Inversion Recovery),and for accurate acquiring brain volume,the author also proposed an automatic skull stripping method for measuring brain volume.Finally,the author processed and analyzed 26 MS patients and 26 normal control subjects by this method.Second,the author proposed an estimate average cerebral perfusion method for discovery the correlation between different MS type and jugular vein structure abnormal in MS patients,and analyzed 140 MS patients and 26 normal control by this method.Third,since QSM is exquisitely sensitive in brain iron deposit,the author proposed a CMBs detection method base on QSM and analyzed 50 MS patients.Meanwhile,the author designed and developed a QSM reconstruction tool for support this work.Forth,to measurement the iron content from MS patients' basial ganglia tissue,the author proposed an automatic segmentation and measurement method,that based on STAGE(Strategically Acquired Gradient Echo)sequence,using the post-processed T1 weighted image and QSM image.16 normal controls and 16 MS patients were processed with this method.All the research works of this paper has been completed and the software module is integrated into SPIN commercial software platform and applied with clinical data in research area.
