Research On Jody Dean's Communist Ideology

From the occupy Wall Street movement in 2011 to the Yellow Vest movement in France starting in 2018,the anti-capitalist action is more obvious.Various occupy movements have emerged one after another around the world,a new communist landscape was gradually formed,fighting for justice and for new settings of the common and the commons.Jody Dean,as a famous radical left-wing scholar in contemporary America,is one of the important representatives of western Marxist school and communist theory.The communist project she proposed is embodied in the series of research results of the communist horizon,and the crowd theory,the party theory and the comrade theory become the core theory of her communist thought.Dean's communist thought is the latest theoretical achievement of western radical left-wing Marxism in the 21 st century,which has been valued and respected by academic circles at home and abroad.As a philosopher living in the setting of communism,based on the great changes that the world has never seen in a century,and rooted in the complex changes of capitalism,Dean made great efforts to develop and practice communism from the communist horizon after discerning the new forms of the development of socialist countries.In contemporary capitalist society,various crises emerge endlessly and contradictions interweave.Dean just peered into the deep structural contradictions of capitalism,and tried to deeply uncover and deconstruct capitalism from the perspective of communism,so as to develop an alternative schemes of capitalism.On the one hand,Dean makes a theoretical exploration of his network communism based on the development situation of communicative capitalism manifested by network media society;On the other hand,Dean also tries to construct an inter-subjective transference dynamic development model of communism with the help of the affective infrastructure structure of the “Neo-Communist Party”.Based on Dean's life and academic development,this paper makes a systematic analysis and logical construction of Dean's communist thought from the aspects of vertical historical observation,horizontal theoretical analysis,practical approach and overall flat evaluation.The first is to discuss the context of Dean's communist thought from the horizontal angle.The crisis of the turbulent times and the financial crisis in the United States have further intensified the social and political crisis of the whole humankind.Moreover,The influence of the Soviet and Eastern upheavals on the international communist movement made human beings change their demands for development.In the face of the rise of global communication network technology,digital capitalism and platform capitalism,continuous criticism of its contemporary capitalism has become an important way of exploring communism.However,Dean's communist thought is influenced by Marxism and western Marxist communist thought and represents the theoretical feelings of dialectical materialism of Marxism and the spirit of emancipatory egalitarianism.The second is the logical evolution of Dean's communist thought from the vertical historical perspective,such as the development track,research theme and stage characteristics.Based on the research theme and the texts of Dean's three historical development stages,this chapter further investigates the development track and generation logic of Dean's communist thought.In the embryonic stage,Dean formed his own unique theory of identity politics,democratic form and emerging technological culture.In her formative and developmental stages,Dean invented communicative capitalism,new democracy,and blog theory;In the stage of perfection and maturity,Dean has formed a relatively mature communist thought.She makes a comprehensive analysis of Crowd theory,constructs the Communist Party,and interprets the theory of realizing comrade discourse,thus forming a relatively comprehensive communist thought.The third is the overall explanation and theoretical interpretation of Dean's communist thought from the critical direction of communist thought,the design of political system and the construction of value system.From the perspective of the critical direction of communist thought,Dean criticizes capitalism from the perspective of communicative capitalism as a circuit form and the left wing's pathological servile spiritual triumphalism,so as to explore the ideological and theoretical system of human freedom and liberation.Starting with the political system design of communist thought,this chapter realizes the perspective observation and theoretical solution of inter-subject structural relations of communism through the logical construction of“Neo-Communist Party”,“Neo-masses” and “Neo-comradeship”.From the perspective of the construction of the value system of communist thought,the communist thought movement under Dean's new setting is developed through the construction of the system of “platform meta-structure”,the expansion of the new proletariat's universality,and the promotion of the inter-subject structural development of people and party.Fourthly,the practical approach of Dean's communist project planning is fully explained.Dean put forward four ways to practice communism: In the first place,the aggregation of communist forces can be realized by developing the “Neo-Communist Party” as the leading body of its communism,developing the “Neo-people” to promote the new proletarian movement and the development of the collective desire of communism;In the second place,we should break the “expropriation” and “exploitation” of communicative capitalism,implement“the commons” transformation of network communication,and dissolve the hierarchical structure of complex network to construct “the common” and “the commons” model of communism.In the third place,We develop people's democratic sovereignty by deepening the “Horizontal idea” of communism,cultivating the“Collective desire” of communism,and strengthening the “Occupy movement” of communism.Last but by no means the least,we should crack the narrative cognition of the word “we”(nominative)and enhance the frequency of the word “comrade” to comprehensively strengthen the discourse construction system of communism.The fifth is to evaluate and analyze the contemporary value of Dean's communist thought as a whole.From the perspective of Dean's academic history,the planning of Dean's communist thought is the theoretical construction and effective innovation of her own communist thought on the basis of in-depth study of Marxism.On the one hand,Dean opened up a new dimension of capitalism criticism and deepened Marx's dialectical materialism.On the other hand,Dean opened up a new horizon for the study of communism and explored new alternatives to capitalism.It is true that Dean's communist thought is not perfect,and his communist system design also has theoretical disparity and logical defects.To begin with,she failed to get rid of the traditional dilemma of utopian ideal society.Furthermore,she failed to manage effectively the differences in the human development of communism;Thirdly,she deviates from the classical Marxist blueprint.Therefore,rooted in the deep structural contradictions of capitalism,on the premise of adhering to the Marxist position,we must comprehensively promote the further development of the new political party model,promote the further realization of social fairness and justice,and promote the further expansion of the shared development model.On the basis of inheriting the revolutionary cause of Marxist communism,we should perfect the Dean's communist project comprehensively,and practice and test the possibility of the development of“Dean's style” communism.In a word,on the basis of inheriting Marxist communism,Dean endowed the era connotation and value implication of network communism in the age of digital intelligence.With the aid of network media technology,Dean intends to uncover the way capitalism's relations of production,deconstructs the development logic of capitalism.Simultaneously,Dean intends to construct and develop a setting of“Neo-Communism” with the Neo-People as the main structure,the Neo-Communist Party as the leading,and a comradeship in the new era,taking communication network media platform as the “meta-structure”,digital circulation loop as the“driving force”,relying on the development mode of “communicative capitalism” and the power of “Neo-Comrade”.Although the ternary structure theory system of“Neo-Communist party--Platform Meta-structure--Neo-People” is used to consider the development mode of Neo-Communism is pioneering,which is accord with the operation mode in the era of network communism.But whether theoretical communism can be effectively transformed into practical communism remains to be confirmed.However,the reasonable elements of Dean's communist ideology are worth providing theoretical mirror and practical guide for us to carry out the socialist modernization with Chinese characteristics.
