Study On The Interactive Development Of World-class Universities And Sports Culture

China is accelerating the construction of a number of world-class universities,for us,the successful experiences of world-class universities are worth learning,especially the comprehension of physical education and talent cultivation.Human comprehensive development,the cultivation of the creative talents,and the suggestion of the multiple intelligences all require new actions and new understanding of campus sports.Why have the rowing competition between the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge been lasting for three centuries?Why does the Harvard University which is top in the world support football matches in the students under all kinds of pressures?Why does Yale University,such a conservative private university,have so many excellent sports facilities and sports performances?This dissertation mainly uses the methods of literature analysis,comparative analysis,questionnaire survey,interview,statistics,case analysis and so on to focus on the analysis of four international first-class universities of Oxford University,Cambridge University,Harvard University,Yale University,as well as two domestic universities of Tsinghua University,Peking University.Based on qualitative and quantitative analysis,the conclusion of study were:1?The top UK universities take sports as an important means to cultivate the gentleman and aristocratic features.UK is a traditional country,university of Oxford and the University of Cambridge have always believed that "education is more important than having a profound knowledge".Why the Oxford and the Cambridge set up the tutorial system a very important reason is to let the students "benefit from living and frank relationship with educated people ".Therefore,Universities of Oxford,Cambridge on sports culture development implement "Chivalry" and "gentleman" as an important concept,which reflected that the participation is more important than win,honor is above anything else.So rowing competition can be held lasting three centuries with as much interest as before.2.America first-class universities view sports as an important means of cultivating elite talent.Americans have so much spirit of the innovation and the adventure,they think sports field is a place to prove their leadership.Sports participants are asked to make sacrifices or dedication for his or her team.It is a good preparation for students to enter the public life one day.Therefore,World-class universities like Harvard and Yale held the idea "cultivate social leaders and elite",would choose football as the most important sport event on campus.They utilize students' participation in sports club to cultivate students'abilities of organizing,solving the problems,making choices,flexibility,and interpersonal communication.Due to all capabilities we talked above are very necessary for a leaders and the social elites to have,it is becoming an indispensable aspect of developing a comprehensive person and "whole person".3?The first-class university students in our country on the value of sports are more stay in physical fitness and recreation.The identity of the educated value of sports is relatively low.By comparison,the identity of the educated value of sports and personality development value in Tsinghua University's students are higher than students in Peking University;the identity of male students is higher than female students;students' exercise frequency is higher than low exercise frequency.(i.e.low:less than 3 times a week;higher:more than 3 times a week)4?World-class universities all emphasis on the permeability of the university spirit in university sports,and focus on the significance of sports education as well.No matter in the work of the stadiums construction,sports organization,contribution of the sports system,or the selection of sports logo,mascot,are all connected with the university spirit,the improvement of the students' abilities and the cohesion of university students.Sport is an important part of college education,and the most dynamic and the most creative carrier of college education.Sport is not only an important way to achieve the educational goals,but also playing an irreplaceable role in human culture.The sports culture in the foreign first-class universities show a lot of vigor and vitality,one of most important reasons is that the university's philosophy has been deeply penetrated in everyone's mind.The university put the ideas of talents cultivation in all aspects of the construction of sports,which guides the direction of the university sports development.Universities recognize sport as a vital method of talents cultivation,and let sport really integrate with education.It provides the valuable experiences for our domestic university sports development,and also gives the power of sustainable development for university sports.
