Waveguide slot array antennas are widely used for its advantage of compact structure, high stiffness and easily-controlled aperture distribution. Standing wave array waveguide slot array antennas, usually called planar slot array antennas, can realize mono-pulse performance and a high aperture utilization rate. A progressive decrease in the level of low side lobe, ultra-low side lobe and distant area side lobe can also be realized.Micro strip printed antennas have found wide applications in many regions such as radar and telecommunications because of their own advantages. To meet different and practical needs, antennas are required to realize different shaped beams and compact structure and light weight are also desired. Micro strip array antennas have low side lobe and high gain. Consequently, the research on its mini-size, high mobility and light weight is of great theoretical and practical significance. Precisely-designed reflector combined with proper fed horn reflecting can offer an ideal well-proportioned planar wave in short distance. In this way, compact field meet the far-field measurement requirements. Reflector compact field is the most developed one ever made by now and it is also the most widely used one in regular microwave band. Its universal application and advanced technology has been accepted word widely. Compact field measurement solves the problems like poor secrecy and high back level of outer measurement, which can also be greatly influenced by weather and great distance.Associated with three research projects,“technology improvement of plate slotted-array antennas”,“planar early-warning radar antennas”,“compact field measurement and development”, this dissertation presents an optimum design of distant area side lobe of plate slotted-array antennas, and a design of printed array early warning radar antennas and millimeter wave compact antennas. The author's major contributions are as follows:According to plate slotted-array antennas improved design requirements, the proposal of its overall structure is proved true. The slot admittance is calculated by three methods: MOM?one-port?two-port. The design curves are fitted by the polynomial. With aperture field diagnose, the side lobe level in E-plane is improved by tuning the radiate slots; the non-uniform spaced units are optimized by the tool box in Matlab; the last step is to process and measure the optimized antenna; the test results show that it reach the designed standard.The improved plate slotted-array antenna has been successfully used in a radar system.Planar printed array antenna is designed and made with early warning radar antenna technical standard considered, its own special advantages of printed array antenna and its wide applications in many fields. The antenna is designed to have azimuth low side lobe and elevation shaped beam. The paper makes a deep insight to the uses of compact micro-strip in different bands. The qualified network is obtained, which has the advantages of compact structure, light weight, less loss and so on. Finally the array antenna is tested by the planar near-field measurement method.The antenna is designed according to the technical standards of millimeter wave compact field antenna. First, a new kind of reflector integration feed is designed by combining the fact that level decreases quickly in the pyramidal horn brim and beam width of corrugated horn is larger. Besides, on the basis of original compact field, the reflector of millimeter wave compact field is presented in the paper. The design of reflector brim adopts the commonly used way to reduce the influence of diffraction on the quiet zone. The feed bracket in high electric field is redesigned to cut down the cross-section area in the field and reduce the influence on quiet zone proportion. Then the quiet zone feature of millimeter wave compact wave is tested. The tested results show that the design meets the requirement.
