Research On Sino-Egyption Cooperation From The Perspective Of The Belt And Road Initiative

China and Egypt are both countries with ancient civilizations.China and Egypt established diplomatic ties in 1956.Egypt was the first Arab and African country to establish diplomatic ties with China.China-Egypt relations have a long history and have been one of the most important bilateral relations between China and Arab and African countries.China-Egypt political cooperation enjoys a solid foundation and supports each other on international issues.The establishment of China-Egypt strategic cooperative relations in 1999 opened a new chapter.Based on the realization of national security and survival,recognition and development,China began to make some contribution to the world and try to provide international public goods.In 2013,China launched the Belt and Road Initiative.In 2014,the new Egyptian Sessie government took office,put forward Egypt’s Vision 2030,intended to achieve national rejuvenation,China-Egypt relations to a higher level,upgrade to a comprehensive strategic partnership.Under the the Belt and Road Initiative,the two countries have launched all-round cooperation at the bilateral,regional and global levels.At the bilateral level,bilateral relations are in a golden period with close political exchanges,in-depth economic and trade cooperation and diverse cultural exchanges.The focus of China-Egypt bilateral relations has begun to focus on the core of the the Belt and Road Initiative,namely,promoting infrastructure construction and interconnectivity,and meeting the needs of Egypt’s social and economic development to a high degree.Among them,infrastructure cooperation has become the most prominent feature.The two most important projects in Egypt’s goal of national rejuvenation are the construction of a new administrative capital and the Suez Canal Cooperation Zone.China obtains cooperation opportunities through its own comprehensive competitive advantages.Cooperation in this area is bound to become a model of the the Belt and Road Initiative,and bring demonstration effects for China-Arab,China-Africa cooperation and other countries along the the Belt and Road Initiative.In addition,the two sides in the transportation,photovoltaic,trade,agriculture,animal husbandry and fishery,manufacturing and other areas have also had some cooperation results.In the field of security,China and Egypt have in-depth cooperation in military unmanned aerial vehicles,and there will be broad space for cooperation in military trade,military industry,military exercises and support in the future.In the field of culture and education,from culture to tourism,education,archaeology,etc.,carried out all-round cooperation in various forms,content innovation.Through the China-Arab Cooperation Forum,the Arab League,the China-African Cooperation Forum and the African Union,and through Egypt’s Arab and African attributes and influence,we can expand the depth and breadth of our cooperation and forge a China-Arab and China-African community of common destiny.At the global level,we shall adhere to multilateralism,promote the building of a community of human destiny through innovative cooperation platforms and dialogue mechanisms or ideas such as the The Belt and Road international cooperation summit forum,medical and health cooperation in building a human health community,building a new financial platform for the The Belt and Road,building a global energy Internet cooperation and other innovative cooperation platforms and dialogue mechanisms on the basis of equality,with win-win cooperation as the core,and with building a community of human destiny as the concept.Finally,China-Egypt cooperation still has huge room for development bilaterally,regionally and globally.Through comparison,we can see that politically,Egypt maintains a diplomatic and strategic balance in its relations with major powers,and China-Egypt interdependence is complementary and asymmetric.Economically,Egypt is in a trade deficit position,China’s investment in Egypt is relatively low,the current focus is still mainly on investment and construction,the lack of overall cooperation planning.The overall security situation is stable,but the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam dispute needs to be resolved through dialogue as soon as possible.Therefore,it is suggested that in the future China-Egypt cooperation should be based on infrastructure construction,economic and trade as the foothold and driving force,complemented by strategic security cooperation,the scope of cooperation should be further expanded,the areas of cooperation should be expanded,and investment in Egypt should be increased.Great progress should be made in the emerging or cutting-edge areas with higher technological value,such as aerospace and nuclear power,so as to promote high-level international cooperation in production capacity and cross-border industrial chains.Moreover,they shall further enhance mutual understanding and trust,continue to promote multilateral cooperation and global governance,promote the construction of a free trade and digital trade governance system,lay the foundation for a digital future,improve the level of international cooperation,enhance the international voice in global governance,improve governance capacity,enhance soft power,and promote China-Egypt cooperation in the Belt and Road Initiative to a higher level.
