Achieving common prosperity for the entire population is the essential requirement of socialism,a long-held and beautiful aspiration of the Chinese nation for thousands of years,and the unremitting pursuit of the Communist Party of China,as well as the expectation of the people and an important element in achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.Ever since the founding of the Communist Party of China(CPC),it has been uniting the people of all ethnic groups and struggling hard to create a better life for themselves.Over the past 40 years of reform and opening up,China’s economy has continued to grow at a rapid pace,science and technology have developed dramatically,and people’s living standards have generally been improved significantly,which has provided us with the material basis and technological conditions to achieve common prosperity.Since the 18 th National Congress of the CPC,the Party‘s Central Committee,with Comrade Xi Jinping at its core,has adhered to a people-centered approach,made the elimination of absolute poverty and the total eradication of poverty a landmark indicator for building a moderately prosperous society and achieving the first 100-year goal,mobilized the efforts of society as a whole,and organized and implemented the largest and most vigorous poverty eradication campaign in human history.After eight years of unremitting struggle,the daunting task of eradicating absolute poverty has been accomplished.In his report to the 20 th National Congress,General Secretary Xi Jinping solemnly proclaimed: "Following our successive struggles,we have managed to achieve a moderately prosperous life,a thousand-year dream of the Chinese nation,and our country’s development has reached a higher historical starting point.We have won the largest battle against poverty in human history by insisting on precisely alleviating poverty and fighting with precision.All eight hundred and thirty-two poor counties in the country managed to get rid of the title of " impoverished county ",nearly 100 million rural poor people were lifted out of poverty and more than 9.6 million poor people were relocated to other places,which historically solved the problem of absolute poverty and made a significant contribution to the global cause of poverty reduction." [1] The accomplishment of the task of eradicating absolute poverty is a great and solid step forward on the road of achieving common prosperity for all the people and has placed China’s development at a higher historical threshold.Having solved the problem of absolute poverty,China has now reached a stage in its history of development where it is comprehensively promoting common prosperity.The new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics is "the era of progressive realization of common prosperity for all people." General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out that "Since the 18 th National Congress of the Party,the Party Central Committee has captured the emerging changes in the development stage,put the gradual achievement of common prosperity for all people on a more important position,promoted coordinated regional development,taken strong measures to safeguard and improve people’s livelihood,won the battle against poverty and built a moderately prosperous society across the board,creating good conditions for promoting common prosperity,and now,it has reached a solid the historical step of promoting population shares common prosperity.Common prosperity is the essential requirement of socialism with Chinese characteristics and is a long-term historical course.We insist on making the achievement of people,and resolutely preventing polarization.”[3]As the new era approaches,the historical conditions in which we live have changed profoundly,and the achievement of modernization for the common prosperity of all people has become a major research topic that we should focus on and address.However,we must see that over the past 40 years of reform and opening up,while we have made great achievements,it has also led to the accumulation of some social contradictions,which have posed a challenge for us to achieve common prosperity for all the people.Socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,the main social contradictions have changed,the unbalanced,uncoordinated and unsustainable problems in economic development have become increasingly evident,and the problems in the area of distribution have become an important constraint on economic development,and it is now the historical stage to focus on solving the main social contradictions and promoting the achievement of common prosperity for all people.Achieving common prosperity for all people is not only about social stability and economic development,but also about the people’s adherence to their socialist beliefs.The significant increase in China’s comprehensive national power over the past 40 years of reform and opening up has provided a rich material basis for achieving common prosperity for all people,and the problems in the area of distribution have made preventing polarization a realistic requirement.The enormous progress in science and technology has provided the technological conditions for achieving the common prosperity of all the people,and the lack of motivation for economic growth requires us to take measures to achieve the common prosperity of all the problems in the field of distribution,it is not only a major topic worthy of in-depth study,but also a way to help achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation by delving into its causes and continuously exploring the path to achieve common prosperity for all people in the new era.The thesis is divided into six chapters based on the content mentioned above,namely the introductory part,which mainly describes the background and significance of the chosen topic,the status of domestic and international research on the chosen topic,the research ideas and research methods and the innovations and shortcomings of the thesis.The second part focuses on the basic meaning and characteristics of the new era and common prosperity,which is a fundamental principle of socialism.The third part covers the theoretical basis of the idea of common prosperity.The idea of common prosperity did not come out of nowhere,but was developed on the basis of the excellent traditional Chinese culture and the guiding ideology of Marxism,with the two merging and integrating.During the course of its practice in China,the idea of common prosperity has also been constantly innovated theoretically according to the situations that arise in reality.New theories have been put forward,such as the idea of letting the rich lead the poor to become rich,the construction of material and spiritual civilization,the three representatives and the people-oriented approach,which have perfected the inheritance and innovation of Marx’s idea of common prosperity.The fourth part focuses on the major problems that are currently encountered in the achievement of common prosperity: fairness in income distribution is an important sign of achieving common.The equity of income distribution is usually measured by the Gini coefficient.The Gini coefficient in China before the reform and opening up was 0.16,which means that the income distribution of the residents in China was reasonable at that time.After more than 40 years of development,on the one hand,the income of our residents has been increasing,on the other hand,the Gini coefficient has also been increasing,especially after it exceeded 0.4 in 2000,and has remained high,which means that in the new era,although the living standard of our residents is improving,the income gap is also widening.In this regard,the thesis will comprehensive national power is the material basis for achieving common prosperity,the reduction of the disparity in income distribution is the inherent requirement for achieving common prosperity,and the advancement of science and technology is the technological condition for achieving common prosperity.In turn,we will make more obvious and substantial progress in promoting the all-round development of human beings and the common prosperity of all people by insisting on the development of the public sector economy,playing the role of the government in macro-control,insisting on the principle of distribution according to labor,and building a sound social welfare system.
