Familiar Strangers:Research On Interactive Viewing And Intimate Relationship In Network Reality Shows

When we watch a video through traditional media,no matter film or TV,it is usually a static experience process from the perspective of the relationship between the viewer and the person being watched,and they cannot communicate and interact with each other.Network reality shows on the Internet have broken the viewing mode of static experience.Male fans watching these shows has become a dynamic experience process in which men and a woman interact in the same live broadcast room.This experience process not only creates a new way of viewing,but also constructs the roles of the viewer and the watched.At the same time,the relationship between the two sides is also constructed.The core issue discussed in this dissertation is: how male fans interact with the female anchors during the process of watching live reality shows on the Internet,and how to build the relationship between them.The researcher conducted in-depth interviews with male fans by using the method of participatory observation.On the basis of text transcription data and network text data,this dissertation explores the unique way of watching live reality shows and discusses the behavioral process of male fans watching live reality shows on the Internet.Further,the researcher places the viewing behavior into the real life of fans and explores the relevant interaction process and results,so as to understand the role of the personalized relationship formed by this kind of viewing mode in the daily life of fans and what cultural meaning has constructed in this relationship.Based on such research approach and empirical materials,the dissertation describes the behavior of interactive viewing in the shows and analyzes the effect of interactive viewing on the construction of intimate relationship,and the construction process and types of intimate relationship,including three types: simulated family type,male and female mutual affection type and erotic transaction type.It explains that by constructing intimate relationship,fans actually carry out an emotional life starting from desire and reaching from love,as well as the generation logic,specific expression and unique connotation of this emotional life,and analyzes the close connection and difficult see-saw between intimate relationship and daily life situation.It is proposed that this kind of intimate relationship is a kind of mediated familiar stranger,which is not only a rewriting of the connotation and form of intimate relationship by these shows,but also creates a new intimate form and stranger communication way.This paper is a study on how men interact with women in cyberspace.It explains the process and meaning of male fans building intimate relationship with the female anchors.This provides a beneficial perspective for understanding the cultural meaning of network broadcast room,provides a detailed case for media culture research,and enriches the discussion of relevant intimate relationship.
