| The report of the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China highlighted the promotion of new industrialization and the construction of manufacturing power as the "focus" of building a modern industrial system.Therefore,the construction of the modern industrial system needs to clarify the main position of the manufacturing industry,the primary condition of the modernization of the industrial system is the upgrading of the modern industrial system of the manufacturing industry.In the post-industrialization period of China,the upgrading of the modern industrial system of the manufacturing industry can not only enhance the international competitiveness of the manufacturing industry,but also help to improve the total factor productivity,resolve the trap of industrial structure,and successfully enter the ranks of upper-income countries.Historical development experience shows that there is a close relationship between technological change and industrialization process.Under the background of the new round of science and technology revolution,the form of digital economy and digital technology can accelerate the evolution,and China has become the world’s largest industrial robot consumption country.Therefore,in order to form a modern industrial system of manufacturing with Chinese characteristics,it is necessary to deeply study the enabling role of typical digital technologies such as industrial robots,which is also conducive to the construction of manufacturing power and high-quality economic development.In recent years,the number of relevant researches on industrial robots and manufacturing industry has surged,but there are limitations in the following two aspects:First,the literature on the relationship between industrial robots and the whole manufacturing industry system is relatively scarce;Second,industrial robots are widely used as digital equipment in the manufacturing field,and their enabling effects need to be further explored.In addition,the modern industrial system is a complex system including many industrial categories,of which manufacturing industry is the basic core industry.Exploring the upgrading path of the modern industrial system of manufacturing industry is helpful to accelerate the construction of a modern industrial system in China.At present,there is no evidence of this relationship directly provided in the literature.Based on existing research viewpoints,this paper takes the upgrading of modern industrial system of industrial robot enabling manufacturing industry as the main research line,and focuses on the following four aspects of pioneering research:1.Using entropy weight TOPSIS method to measure the autonomous controllable level of China’s manufacturing industry system,and conduct in-depth research from the perspective of industrial robot empowerment.The results show that when industrial robots are used as equipment,they can improve the autonomous and controllable level of the manufacturing industry system.Specifically,the input of industrial robots can exert a significant positive enabling effect on the autonomous controllable level within and between the manufacturing industrial system,but has no significant influence on the autonomous controllable level outside the manufacturing industrial system.The positive enabling effect of industrial robots on the autonomous and controllable manufacturing industrial system is still significantly valid when considering the endogeneity problem and robustness test.When industrial robots act as factor allocation empowers,factor allocation structure does not play a mediating role in influencing the empowers of industrial robots,but has a nonlinear regulating role in enhancing the positive empowers effect of industrial robots.2.Decomposing the green and low-carbon level of the manufacturing industry system into green total factor production efficiency and carbon emission scale,and explore its enabling influence from the perspective of industrial robots.The results show that industrial robots can improve the efficiency of green development of the manufacturing industry system and reduce the scale of carbon emissions.This influence has passed a series of endogeneity tests and robustness tests.Heterogeneity test results show that the input of industrial robots in the deep processing manufacturing industry system significantly improves the green and low-carbon level of the manufacturing industry system,while the input of industrial robots in the crude processing manufacturing industry system only reduces the scale of carbon emissions in the manufacturing industry system.Industrial robot input empowerment has a positive effect on the carbon emission scale of manufacturing industry.When industrial robots act as factor allocation enabers,factor allocation structure can produce positive mediating effect on industrial robots,and also form nonlinear regulating effect with increasing marginal effect.3.Measuring the unimpeded circulation level of the modern manufacturing industry system from the two aspects of circular participation in the international market and circular participation in the domestic market,and test it from the perspective of industrial robot empowerment.The results show that industrial robots can help the manufacturing industry system to integrate into the international market and the domestic market,and is still significantly valid when considering the endogeneity problem and robustness test.When industrial robots are enabled by factor allocation,they will be indirectly affected by the structure of factor allocation,showing the mediating characteristics that the influence of purchase participation in the domestic market is better than that of sales participation in the domestic market,and the influence of import participation is better than that of export participation.The allocation of production factors can also play a nonlinear role in regulating the smooth circulation upgrading of modern industrial system in the industrial robot enabling manufacturing industry.4.Using fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis(fs QCA)method to test the internal linkage effect of industrial robots enabling the upgrading of modern industrial system in manufacturing industry.The overall results show that the internal linkage effect of industrial robot enabling manufacturing industry system to achieve the two goals of autonomy and control and green and low carbon is better than other enabling paths.Specifically,the result variable is that when the domestic market sales participate,the industrial robot and the green efficiency and export participation of the manufacturing industry system are the main condition
