A Study On The Relationship Between Foreign Direct Investment And Export Technical Progress

Foreign direct investment(FDI)has positive externality.The host country can obtaine advanced technology and management experience from the spillover effects of FDI,and drive export technology progress.As an important institutional arrangement,intellectual property rights protection(IPR protection)can ensure the innovation benefits of foreign enterprises,attract high-quality foreign capital and stimulate technological spillover.Does the IPR protection affects export technological progress through FDI direct and indirect spillover channels? With the change of IPR protection,what is the heterogeneity of the influence of FDI in different industries on export technological progress?However,existing literature tends to be isolated to study the effect of FDI on the export comparative advantage and of the IPR protection on export trade,rarely puts all in the same framework,and ignores the regulation effect of IPR protection.In view of this,this paper focuses on the influence of IPR protection on relationship between FDI direct and indirect spillover channels and export technological progress.And the relationship between FDI and export technological progress has been affected by the complex nonlinear dynamic endogenous relation of IPR protection.This is of great significance for the realization of IPR protection strategy,the implementation of foreign investment policy and industrial integration development.Therefore,this paper revolves around the core problem,that is,how the IPR protection affects the relationship between FDI and export technology progress,explores mechanism step by step,and builds logical relationships and research frameworks from the overall perspective.On this basis,using the empirical research method,the research will be gradually expanded to form the following three closely related sub-problems.(1)what is the impact of IPR protection on the relationship between manufacturing FDI and manufacturing export technological progress?(2)what is the impact of IPR protection on the relationship between services FDI and services export technological progress?(3)what is the impact of IPR protection on the relationship between producer services FDI and manufacturing export technological progress?This paper advances and enriches the relationship between FDI and export technology progress and the IPR protection and export technological progress.This paper explores and reveals the role of IPR protection on the relationship between FDI and export technology progress,and expands the research perspective of IPR protection.The innovative conclusions are as follows:(1)With the strengthening of the IPR protection,the influence of personnel training effect,forward industry association effect and afterward industry association effect on export technology progress is strengthened.However,the demonstration competition effect is not conducive to the export technology progress.(2)There is a double threshold of IPR protection for five categories services FDI.With the strengthening of IPR protection,the protection level of moderate intensity is most prominent effect of the modern services FDI on services export technology progress.The optimal IPR protection zone for attracting and utilizing modern services FDI is(0.585,0.646].(3)There is no threshold effect of IPR protection in transportation,warehousing and postal services FDI and wholesale and retail FDI.There are double threshold effect in the other four producer services FDI.The optimal IPR protection range for attracting and utilizing producer services FDI is(0.554,0.693].Research results show that the moderate level of IPR protection is beneficial to introduce foreign capital and upgrade export technology,and the protection of too strong or too weak is unfavorable.
