At present,China’s economy is entering a high-quality development stage.As an important part of economic activities,enterprises have played an important role in promoting economic development and social progress.With the advent of the era of big data,some immoral corporate behaviors began to appear frequently in the public view,such as illegal discharge of waste water and gas,labor disputes,financial fraud,unqualified product quality and so on.This kind of corporate behavior in violation of laws and regulations or moral standards is called the corporate social irresponsibility.The purpose of corporate social irresponsibility is often to enhance the unilateral benefits of the enterprise itself or its internal members by sacrificing the rights and interests of the whole society or other stakeholders.According to the legitimacy theory,the corporate social irresponsibility will directly lead to the loss of external legitimacy.Compared with stable and mature large and medium-sized enterprises,entrepreneurial enterprises have limited space for error correction,and the consequences of corporate social irresponsibility are more fatal.Therefore,entrepreneurial enterprises should pay more attention to the corporate social irresponsibility.However,according to relevant statistics,or due to the imperfect internal governance mechanism,or due to the impact of factors such as great pressure on survival and development,start-ups have become the hardest hit area for the corporate social irresponsibility.At present,the domestic academic circles have less research on the factors that may lead to the corporate social irresponsibility,especially the research based on entrepreneurial situation.The main reason is that some scholars believe that the core issue that start-ups should pay attention to is their own survival and development,while the corporate social irresponsibility can only be limited by external laws and regulations,and the role of internal factors is very small.But in fact,with the continuous development of research in the field of corporate social responsibility,more and more scholars realize that under the background of the big data era,every move of enterprises will be quickly reflected in front of the public.The negative impact of the corporate social irresponsibility will endanger the survival and development of start-ups at any time.Therefore,start-ups themselves have the motivation to curb the corporate social irresponsibility.As the decision-making body in the enterprise,the senior management team will directly affect the choice of enterprises on the issues related to the corporate social irresponsibility.Therefore,it is of practical and theoretical significance to study the impact of the characteristics of the senior management team of entrepreneurial enterprises on the corporate social irresponsibility.By combing the research on the corporate social irresponsibility,this study quantifies the corporate social irresponsibility from the Chinese situation.Then,by combing the relevant research of the executive team,from the perspective of the homogeneity and heterogeneity of the executive team,with the help of the demographic characteristics of the executive team,this paper systematically analyzes the impact of the characteristics of the executive team of entrepreneurial enterprises on the corporate social irresponsibility,and analyzes the intermediary mechanism of the homogeneity and heterogeneity of the executive team of entrepreneurial enterprises on the corporate social irresponsibility based on the high-order theory.Finally,this study also observed the regulatory role of regional regulation and survival pressure,as well as the stage in which the regulatory effect played a role.Specifically,this study takes the enterprises listed on GEM and sci-tech innovation board as samples,constructs the indicators of corporate social responsibility deficiency from five aspects: community,corporate governance,employee relations,environment and products through entropy method,and estimates the dynamic panel model between executive team characteristics and corporate social responsibility deficiency from two aspects of homogeneity and heterogeneity by using system generalized moment estimation method,and draws the following conclusions:(1)Female executives,older executives,executive teams with shorter average tenure and executive teams with higher average education level will significantly inhibit the corporate social irresponsibility.In addition,when the above variables act on the corporate social irresponsibility,the significance and direction of each homogeneity feature have not changed.This result confirms that the homogeneity of each dimension of the senior management team will have an impact on the corporate social irresponsibility at the same time.(2)The heterogeneity of each dimension of the executive team of entrepreneurial enterprises has a significant inhibitory effect on the corporate social irresponsibility,that is,the greater the heterogeneity of the executive team,the higher the inhibition of the corporate social irresponsibility.However,when the heterogeneity of each dimension of entrepreneurial enterprise executive team acts on the corporate social irresponsibility,the role of relationship related heterogeneity is significantly higher than task related heterogeneity,and has a masking effect on the role of task related heterogeneity to a great extent.(3)The impact of the homogeneity of each dimension of the executive team of entrepreneurial enterprises on the corporate social irresponsibility is mainly realized by affecting the risk preference of executives.That is,some aspects of the characteristics of the senior management team will reduce the risk preference of senior managers,and then reduce the occurrence of the corporate social irresponsibility.The impact of the heterogeneity of each dimension of senior management team on the corporate social irresponsibility is mainly realized through team conflict.That is,the higher the heterogeneity of the executive team,the higher the degree of conflict among team members,which greatly reduces the possibility of collusion among members,and then reduces the occurrence of the corporate social irresponsibility.(4)The degree of supervision and environmental regulation in the region where the enterprise is located,as well as the competitive pressure of enterprise survival,can weaken the impact of the staffing of the senior management team on the corporate social irresponsibility,and reduce the corporate social irresponsibility on the overall level.Under the background of accelerating the transformation and development of China’s economy,as an important help to promote economic development,start-ups also need to shoulder corresponding social responsibilities in addition to their own economic responsibilities for survival and development.Therefore,the research on the antecedents of the corporate social irresponsibility of entrepreneurial enterprises will help to alleviate the frequent occurrence of enterprise immoral behavior caused by imperfect system in the process of social development and transformation.Therefore,this research expands the existing research gap of corporate social responsibility from the following aspects:(1)The research on the corporate social irresponsibility is extended to start-ups,which fills the gap of domestic research;(2)This paper systematically constructs the research model of the antecedents of the corporate social irresponsibility,and expands the research fields of legitimacy theory,high-order theory and other related theories;(3)This paper designs the evaluation index of corporate social irresponsibility suitable for China’s entrepreneurial situation;(4)The research opens the black box that the characteristics of the executive team of entrepreneurial enterprises affect the corporate social irresponsibility.
