| The rapid advancement of digital technology and the booming shared economy have opened up new avenues for individual users to engage in innovative and entrepreneurial pursuits.User entrepreneurship has increasingly emerged as a focal point within the realm of entrepreneurship,as it catalyzes interactive innovation among user communities,efficiently unleashes the dynamic forces of social innovation and entrepreneurship,and significantly contributes to implementing an innovation-driven development strategy.User entrepreneurship essentially denotes the process where individuals innovate products or services to address their own unmet needs,subsequently commercializing these innovations and making them available to the broader market.Despite the pervasive presence of user innovation across China,however,the transition rate from user innovation to actual entrepreneurship remains relatively low,thereby impeding the realization of its full-scale impact.To illustrate,within the Open Source Community of China,a constant stream of innovative ideas and product prototypes are being generated by users;however,there is a scarcity of those who transform into user entrepreneurs within this community.Simultaneously,academic exploration into the mechanisms underpinning the shift from user innovation to user entrepreneurship remains insufficient.First,the generation mechanism of user entrepreneurial intentions within user communities have yet to be definitively elucidated.While most extant studies have employed qualitative methodologies to probe into facets of user entrepreneurship,insufficient emphasis has been placed on user entrepreneurial intentions.Given that user entrepreneurial intentions act as a critical precursor to user entrepreneurial actions,and considering that users frequently utilize user communities as a springboard for these initiatives,it becomes apparent that the evolution of user entrepreneurial intentions follows a distinct path compared to traditional entrepreneurial inclinations.Thus,constructing a tailored model that explicates the generation mechanism of user entrepreneurial intentions holds considerable significance for advancing relevant theoretical frameworks.Second,the intricate process by which user innovation metamorphoses into user entrepreneurship remains veiled.While there is consensus among scholars that user innovation plays a pivotal role in fostering user entrepreneurship,the inherent bond linking the two concepts is yet to be thoroughly scrutinized.The specific mechanisms governing the transformation from user innovation to user entrepreneurship remain obscure.Third,the defining boundaries influencing this transition from user innovation to user entrepreneurship have not been clearly identified.Despite a profusion of cases showcasing user innovation,only a fraction of these ventures evolve into successful user entrepreneurship.What are the underlying limitations? How do these constraints function? Addressing these questions would shed light on the facilitation and hindrance mechanisms operative throughout the transformative journey of user innovation turning into user entrepreneurship.Drawing upon both the burgeoning practical advancements and the robust theoretical foundations,this study endeavors to delve into the following inquiries:(1)What is the precise nature of the relationship between user innovation and the formation of user entrepreneurial intentions?(2)What is the inherent mechanism through which user innovation impacts and shapes user entrepreneurial intentions?(3)Within the context of user innovation’s influence on user entrepreneurial intentions,what specific contextual constraints or facilitating elements could significantly mold this intricate dynamic? By conducting profound research into these queries,this study aspires to formulate a user entrepreneurial intention generation mechanism model grounded in an innovation-driven perspective.This endeavor ultimately seeks to augment and refine the foundational understanding of user entrepreneurship research.In order to scrutinize the aforementioned questions,this study positions users within user communities as its primary research subjects,adopting a dual approach of theoretical deduction and empirical examination.By integrating multiple exploratory case studies and pertinent theories,a holistic model is devised to investigate the interconnections among user innovation,exploitative entrepreneurial learning,entrepreneurial opportunity iteration,perceived community support,and user entrepreneurial intention.First,this study firmly roots itself in key tenets of the theory of planned behavior,entrepreneurial learning theory,and constructivism theory,thus constructing a preliminary conceptual model.Second,it selects four archetype user entrepreneurs across diverse sectors for meticulous case study analysis to pinpoint central constructs.Concurrently,informed by the relationships between these constructs discerned during case analyses,the study formulates theoretical propositions and finally formates a research model.Third,leveraging the interdependencies between variables within the theoretical model and thorough theoretical reasoning,this study proposes a set of research hypotheses.To test these hypotheses,a large-scale empirical dataset is gathered via questionnaire surveys.Established measurement scales from both domestic and international research are adapted to devise the questionnaire.Following a pilot study and subsequent revisions,a final version of the questionnaire is compiled and distributed.Data collection ensues,followed by empirical analysis.The outcomes reveal that 13 out of the 14 research hypotheses advanced in this study receive empirical backing,whereas one hypothesis does not find significant statistical support.Lastly,the research synthesizes its findings,outlines theoretical contributions,and discusses practical implications.It also acknowledges the study’s limitations and suggests avenues for future research.The research concludes the following in user communities:(1)User innovation has a positive impact on user entrepreneurial intention.(2)Exploitative entrepreneurial learning plays a mediating function in bridging the connection between user innovation and user entrepreneurial intention.(3)Entrepreneurial opportunity iteration plays a mediating function in bridging the connection between user innovation and user entrepreneurial intention.(4)Exploitative entrepreneurial learning and entrepreneurial opportunity iteration exert a chained mediating effect between user innovation and user entrepreneurial intention,indicating a path of “user innovation-exploitative entrepreneurial learning-entrepreneurial opportunity iteration-user entrepreneurial intention”.(5)Perceived community support positively moderates the relationships between exploitative entrepreneurial learning and user entrepreneurial intention as well as entrepreneurial opportunity iteration and user entrepreneurial intention.Besides,perceived community support positively moderates the mediating effect of exploitative entrepreneurial learning and entrepreneurial opportunity iteration on the relationship between user innovation and user entrepreneurial intention.This study enriches the research on user innovation,user entrepreneurial intention,and the relationship between them,making the following theoretical contributions: First,this study takes user innovation as the starting point of the user entrepreneurship process and takes the driving role of user innovation as an entry point to deeply reveal its impact on user entrepreneurial intention from both theoretical and empirical perspectives.This not only helps to break through and expand traditional user entrepreneurship research models but also promotes the development of innovation-driven entrepreneurship theory from a micro perspective.Second,this study uses exploitative entrepreneurial learning as a transmission mechanism to bridge the gap between user innovation and user entrepreneurial intention.This study also introduces entrepreneurial opportunity iteration as a key intermediary to reveal the impact mechanism of user innovation on user entrepreneurial intention.These measures help to clarify the transformation path of user innovation to user entrepreneurship,compensating for the shortcomings of previous studies that simply described the relationship between user innovation and user entrepreneurship.Third,this study enriches the research on the boundary mechanism of user innovation to user entrepreneurship by exploring the moderating effect of perceived community support,which helps to systematically understand the generation mechanism of user entrepreneurial intention.This study has the following practical implications: First,at the macro level,it provides a reference for policy makers in relevant departments.This study aims to proactively respond to the pressing demands of the innovation-driven development strategy by delving deeply into the intrinsic mechanisms behind the transformation from user innovation to user entrepreneurship.The research findings are intended to furnish more targeted policy recommendations for fostering the conversion of user innovation into user entrepreneurship within the Chinese context.Second,at the meso level,it provides practical guidance for community managers to govern communities.By exploring the role of perceived community support in guiding the transformation of user innovation into user entrepreneurship,this study has certain practical implications for guiding the governance of user communities.For example,community managers should be good at using big data algorithms to analyze the browsing habits and reply habits of community members,so as to match the most relevant knowledge posts for them when they need it.They can also enhance perceived community support by giving spiritual and material rewards to community members.Third,at the micro level,it provides guiding references for users to independently carry out entrepreneurial activities.This study calls on users to enhance their awareness of role transformation,and face their unmet needs,creativity as well as innovative achievements.This study also encourages them to actively interact with community members through user communities to carry out entrepreneurial learning and iterate entrepreneurial opportunities,thereby laying the foundation for their entrepreneurial journey. |
