Comprehensive studies on adsorption of CH4,CO2 single gas and the multicomponent gas on coal are conducted by applying physical chemistr interface chemistry, coal petrology and coal chemical engineering knowledg. Firstly, adsorption characteristics of methane and Carbon dioxid on different types of Antracite coals of Yang Quan are investigated and the diversities between CH4 and CO2 are compared. Several classical adsorption models are evaluated and the optimal one is selected out for describing adsorption process of CH4 and CO2 on different types of Antracite coals of Yang Quan. Secondly, adsorption capacity on per surface of NO.15 and NO.3 Antracite coals of Yang Quan were compared by calculating the surface free energy of coal.Thirdly, the characteristics of multicomponent gas adsorption of CH4+CO2 on different types of Antracite coals of Yang Quan are analysed by the experiment of multicomponent gas adsorption and the extended Langmuir predicting model for multicomponent gas adsorption is evaluated. At the same pressure, the adsorption capacity of CO2 is greater than the CH4 on the same coal sample. The adsorption amount on the NO.15 Antracite coals is the NO.3 for the same gas;The BET adsorption models is the best for describing adsorption process of CH4 and the Langmuir adsorption models is the best for the CO2;In the laboratory temperature, the surface free energy of the NO.3 Antracite coals of Yang Quan is greater than the NO.15;the volume of the multicomponent gas adsorption will become larger with the CO2 adding more in the free gas;Under the 3Mpa pressure,it is greater that the extended Langmuir predicting model predict the volume of the multicomponent gas adsorption of CH4+CO2 on different types of Antracite coals of Yang Quan. The error is between 4% and 10%.In summary, the results of the paper will improve adsorption theory of Antracite coals and Coke coals of Yang Quan, and provide the theoretical basis for preventing Coal and gas outburst .
