Map is an important tool that people used in orientation decision and navigation. It can bedivided into different style like Word-centered reference map and Ego-centered reference mapBased on previous studies, this study examined the difference of single reference map and duareference map, the cognition effective factors, and the map-reading strategy througheye-tracking technology. This study improved and enriched the theoretical system of dualreference maps. Moreover, the results would be contributed to a wide field of applications incomputer and other devices. This study included three parts, with four experiments. The first part compared the differences of single reference map and dual reference map andanalyzed the probable effective factors. This part made the ground to the latter parts. The second part mainly demonstrated two factors which affected the performance of duamap: (1) Separated attention; (2) Cognitive load caused by two different references randomlyplacement. Experiment 2 validated the first hypothesis, and Experiment 3 validated the second. The third part used eye-tracking system to explore the map-reading strategy.Through the above four experiments, this study found that:(1) Random placed reference frames map was not as good as a single frame of referencemap;(2) The real factors that affected were not the separated center of the map, but the uncertainlocation of the pair references. This uncertainty made the subject's attention confusion, thenprolonged reaction time;(3) From the eye-movement data, we found that in absolute judgments task subjectsadopted a left-right strategy, while in relative judgments task subjects adopted a search strategy;(4) In the field of practice, a fixed position of the left posed World-centered reference frameand right posed Ego-centered reference frame map will be a reasonable layout.
