Wave energy is an important aspect of ocean energy. In recently, wave energy which has been the most studied is the most valuable source of energy which is the largest government investment projects in research of ocean energy utilization. At present, the technology of wave energy development and utilization which is becoming more mature has entered the stage of commercial development and has a certain degree of business competitiveness. It will be develop to a large-scale use and a direction of power generation which is independent and stable. However, in the area with low wave energy density, research and development of efficient and highly reliable offshore-type wave energy device is a hot area.I analyzed the technology of wave energy and described the significance of the wave energy device which was being studied as well as through analysis of the status quo of studying on it at home and abroad, finding out the suitable form of the wave energy device in China Sea which is characterized by low wave energy density. Finally I present a new type device of float-type wave energy device to carry out conceptual design, dynamic characteristics of the float, motion features and power characteristics of the wave energy device. The main contents of this dissertation covered the following points:(1) Use the Newton's second law to solve the displacement equations of the float movement in a vertical direction. Through analyze the damping coefficient to find out the motion characteristics of the float in order to optimize the structural dimensions of the wave energy device.(2) Use the Froude-Krylov theory to calculate the wave force in vertical. And through the dynamic analysis of the float, optimize the structural dimensions of the float. The Froude-Krylov coefficient is discussed and the various factors which are used in the calculation are identified.(3) For the devices used a fixed form of hinged at the bottom of the structure, we calculate the lateral load and the angle of heel when wave power and ocean current power combined action on the structure.(4) Discuss the relationship with the device geometry and the force on structure as well as motion responses. The size of geometries, as diameter of the pipe, has been optimized design; the displacement of float ups and downs, the total energy of the wave power device, as well as the power of the structure has been calculated.In this paper, the analysis of wave power generation laid the theoretical foundation for the commercialization of wave energy device in China.
