The left hand material is one kind of material in which both permeability and permittivity are negative. In the left hand material, electromagnetic wave group velocity and phase velocity are opposite, causes in the left hand material to have a series of the phenomenon opposite unusual effect which is familiar with the people. Recently 20 years, research for the left hand material became internationally a research hot spot rapidly, in the electromagnetics, optics and the material domain has the huge application prospect. In view of the fact that the left hand material and the traditional electromagnetism material completely different electromagnetism characteristic and the latent widespread application prospect, the present paper embarks from the left hand material elementary theory, the union time domain finite difference algorithm, conducts the analytical study to dissemination characteristic of the electromagnetic wave in left hand material.Firstly, the time domain finite difference method's elementary theory is introduced,2D electromagnetic wave difference equation is presented, the stable condition is presented, value chromatic dispersion is analysis, discussed perfect matched level boundary condition, introduced several kind of drive sources simply.Secondly, the left hand material basic electromagnetic theory is studied, infers the satisfied left hand relations between the electric field, the magnetic field, and the wave vector in the left hand material, the poynting vector quantity and the wave vector direction is opposite, the theoretical analysis left hand material negative refraction, the perfect image formation phenomenon, the focusing characteristic.Thirdly, using the non-loss left hand material model, infers in the left hand material plate the difference equation, the numerical simulation electromagnetic wave in left hand material plate dissemination, the simulation analysis of negative refraction, the perfect image formation phenomenon, the focusing characteristic is carried on.Finally, introducing the loss left hand material model, the theoretical analysis relations between electromagnetism energy and the loss factor, the difference equation is presented in loss left hand material plate, the numerical simulation electromagnetic wave in loss left hand material plate dissemination, carries on the simulation analysis of the electromagnetism characteristic, increases the loss factor, the plate internal electromagnetism energy increases, is consistent with the theoretical analysis result.
