Terahertz(THz) waves refer to electromagnetic radiation in the frequency interval from 0.1 to 1 0 THz.They occupy a relatively unexplored portion of the electromagnetic spectrum between the mid-infrared and microwave bands. It is a new technique that has been boosted with the development of its source, detecting technology and application technology in the past twenty years. And it has been proved greatly potential applica-tions in many domains including imaging, environment monitoring, medical diagnosing and broadband mobile communications.The thesis mainly focused on THz photonic crystal waveguide device. Firstly, pro-gress of terahertz technology research in our country and abroad is analyzed and sum-marized. Secondly, based on the plane wave expansion method analyzed the waveguide band gap structure, by changing the 2-d photonic crystal terahertz typical structure of structure parameters of THz band gap photonic crystals to simulate analysis. In addition, of photonic crystal terahertz waveguide mode characteristics and dispersion characteris-tics of theoretical research has been done. Finally, the paper proposes a new kind of terahertz photonic crystal waveguide, and through the experiment and simulation analyses we have got the transmission properties of the waveguide structure. Research results show that photonic crystal terahertz waveguide is a suitable for tera-hertz wave transmission in the waveguide of terahertz band has good transmission characteristics.
