The Research About The Fauna And Palaeoenvironment In The Three Gorges Area

The Three Gorges Area, which is located on the upper and middle reaches of the Changjiang River, is the transitional zone from the second ladder to the third ladder according to the topography of our country. In order to cooperate with the construction of water conservancy projects of the Three Gorges dam, the preservation of cultural relics and archaeological excavation about the Three Gorges reservoir had been proceeded on a large scale in the early 90s of twenties century, digging out comparative more locations of the petrifaction which have been conserved better. On the basis of research about animal archaeology, we could authenticate the skeletons which were excavated from the archaeological sites within each historic period of the human beings. In addition, the natural condition and entironment near the sites can be estimated according to the life habit of the ancient animals. Consequently, the zoolites, which were unearthed from archaeological sites, are of great importance to study about palaeoenvironment and paleogeography there. This paper has analyzed and researched the environment of the Three Gorges reservoir site through the unearthed petrifaction of fauna. It has extrapolated the change of the palaeoenvironment of the Three Gorges district basing on the species and ecological characteristics of zoolite from different periods on this site. Accordingly, there would be a preliminary acquaintance with the climatope of the Three Gorges Area within a specific time horizon and special scale.The first part has introduced briefly about the reason about choosing this topic, the importance,status quo,content,purpose,method of this research, the existed problem, and the feature of geographic position and natural environment including landform,climate,vegetation and species of animal. Comparing with other area, the natural environment of the Three Gorges district has its own characteristics, that is , the exceptional climatope has provided an advantaged condition for the inhabitation of animals and subsistence of fossil man. It is also important for us to comprehend the change of the paleoclimate environment and other geographic entities through observing the feature of the zoology and genus about the plenty of unearthed fauna.The second part has provided the general information about pale fauna in the three gorges area. In this part, this article has collected abundant report which is related to the pale fauna during the Quaternary Period in the three gorges area,and then divided this period into two part—Pleistocene and Holocene epoch to analyze. It has arranged the unearthed major fauna site and typical unit in the light of the chronological order, therefore there would be an elementary conclusion about the pale fauna in the three gorges area.The following section has discussed about the fauna in the Pleistocene -- Ailuropoda-Stegodon fauna,the transition period from Ailuropoda-Stegodon fauna to the fauna of recent species and their own palaeoenvironment in the three gorges area. On the basis of the observation about the feature of the zoology and genus about the plenty of unearthed fauna, this section has estimated the change of the palaeoenvironment of the Three Gorges area by analyzing the life habit of fauna there.The next part has illustrated the relationship between the pale fauna including the fauna in the Pleistocene and it in the Holocene epoch and fossil man beings. It has have an acquaintance with the fossil man beings'tendencies about meat by researching on the faunal remains, understood how people to obtain the resource in order to change their current life situation. Moreover, it is helpful to comprehend about when people domesticated the wild animals to become the livestock, which has presented the tenacity about vitality of mankind and the determination of challenging the nature.The last section has concluded the content of this research of each part above.
