In the 2008 Wenchuan great earthquake and the 2010 Yushu earthquake, brick masonry buildings, a kind of structural style,were massively destructed. At present this kind of structural style still vastly exists in chinese general countryside and cities,and is playing the extremely vital role in daily life,such as schools,hospitals and office buildings.Therefore,developing earthquake damage prediction of brick masonry structure is of great significance to reduce casualties and property loss and to ensure the economic sustainable development.In this paper,earthquake damage prediction of this kind of structure is researched,the seismic damages types of the brick masonry structure is analyzed, the method of referemce[1] is revised,so that a more reasonable result could be obtain by this kind of method. The major task is as follows:1. The main characteristic of brick masonry buildings and its damage in previous earthquakes are systematically introduced and summarized.2. The two methods of earthquake damage prediction of brick masonry structure in detail are introduced.The method of referemce[1] uses the main symbol of resistant ability of brick masonry structure taking by the average conversion of shearing strength,obtains the relationships of the seismic damages classfication and the average conversion shearing strength,which is the inverse ratio relation by statistics.The method of reference[2] mainly measure the destruction of brick masonry structure by"the destruction target". Through the actual structures,the applicability of two methods are respectively verified,which is shown that the result of reference[2] is more coincident with the actual situation,but the application is relatively complicated because of more iuput parameters while the advantage of the method of referemce[1] is convenient by using simple input parameter,but in some aspct,the result of earthquake prediction damage is more serious apparently than the the real damage of brick masonry buildings because of the finite precision,so the the method of reference [1] should be revised.3. 200 brick masonry buildings from different regions and different storeys and different years are seclected.the 200 brick masonries"the destruction target",the classfication of seismic damages and their average conversion shearing strength,the relationships between the classification of seismic damages and the average conversion shearing strength are obtained by using the method of reference [2].Then,the relationships between the classification of seismic damages and the average conversion shearing strength of 1-2 storey,3-4 storey,5-6 storey,7-8 storey are obtained respectively,on the base of the relationships,the coefficient of Ci in the reference [1] is revised.Finally, through calculating the real earthquake damage types,it is shown that the precision of method of reference [1] is improve, which the result of calculation is more coincident with the real situation.
