With technological progress and rapid development of society, the patent technology has become an important indicator of the domestic and foreign enterprises' competitiveness. In recent years, the computer and automation technology patents, as important part of information technology field, have a large increase both in quantity and quality, but the evaluation of computer and automation technology patent does not have a complete and comprehensive models and methods, which is not conducive to the development of patent technology and the interests protection of the of all parties in proprietary trading. The first chapter defines the related concepts and research status, puts forward the realistic needs for the evaluation of computer and automation technology patents and research significance. The second chapter describes the development of option pricing theory and patent evaluation theories, points out that the limitations of traditional patents evaluation methods, and puts forward that computer and automation technology patents value can be assessed by options pricing theory based on their real option characteristics. In the third chapter, taking into account the computer and automation technology patents' features, it selects the Black-Scholes method of all the option pricing methods, and designs the evaluation model of computer and automation technology patents based on option pricing theory, also introduces a software-BSBWIN to complete the evaluation procedures. The fourth chapter establishes the index evaluation system of computer and automation technology patent evaluation through the life cycle of patent. The fifth chapter carries out empirical study, through two different cases examines the advantages of the option pricing model by comparison analysis between traditional and current methods.Although this article refers to the computer and automation technology patents, provide a reference, theoretical and practical significance for the evaluation in other industries of information technology or more areas' patents.
