During the millions of years'evolution,beetle's elytra has developed the special structure and function to adapt their survival environment. This thesis focuses on Cybister tripunctatus ,making Method of sections of elytra is studied,and sections of elytra with different softening method have been compared,which lays the foundation for reconstructing three-dimensional structure of elytra.Microstructure of the cross section of the beetle's elytra in different directions was observed and analyzed.The results showed that microstructure of the cross section in different directions was similar. The cross section of elytra consist of a compact dorsal side, a ventral side ,a circular or oval hollow section and cylindrical hole between hollow section.On the basis of characteristics of lightweight structure of elytra and relative research, three bio-inspired lightweight structures were designed.Based on the ANSYS Workbench Environment integrating development platform environment,the finite element model of three kinds of bio-inspired lightweight structures were established,and mechanical property of bio-inspired lightweight structures was analyzed. The load-displacement curves,stiffness and strength of three structures were obtained. Also, the specific strength and specific stiffness of three structures were compared.The results showed bio-structureâ…¡is best,which is most similar to elatra.In order to verify effectiveness of finite element model and correctness of results, three kinds of light-weight structure model were fabricated by rapid prototyping,and mechanical property tests was carried out. The experimental results and the finite element analysis results were compared and analyzed, which proved the effectiveness of the finite element analysis.Baseed on Design of Experiments optimization technology of ANSYS Workbench,the parametrized model of anslysis object was established by software of Solidworks,then linked to ANSYS Workbench Environment,and the principal dimensions of light-weight structure model as design variables,were optimized by optimizing analysis.The best optimal result was obtained,the stress of optimized structure in stress concentration area was decreeased obviously,the distribution of stress was improved,and the stress distributed more uniformly, the specific stiffness and specific strength respectively increase 21.6%,35.9% .
