Flow control is one of the hot spots of aerospace field and the leading areas of research in fluid dynamics. With the rapid development of the flow control technology, the design of the high-performance fluid actuator and the research of its flow field characteristics have become a hot research by scholars at home and abroad. Fluid actuator is a key component of flow control system, whose excellent performance is related to its application effectiveness directly in flow control.In this paper, we use experimental method primarily. Firstly, the seven-hole probe whose diameter is 2.7mm is employed to measure the passive vortex generator's dimensional flow field characteristics quantitatively. The analysis approach which is about the vortex's generation and the evolution of vortex spatially has been achieved by changing the vortex's setting angle and vortex pair configurations. Based on the above analysis, a new active jet vortex generator is developed. With the help of seven-hole probe, we measure the vortex's dimensional time-averaged flow flied characteristics in detail and compare with the passive vortex generator's flow field characteristics. By changing actuator's electrical parameters: driven frequency and operating voltage, jet exit angle, vortex pair configurations and experiment velocity, the active jet vortex generator's working behaviour which is affected by the above parameters has been studied. The results show that the vortex shedding frequency is adjustable, which is in agreement with the active jet vortex generator's driven frequency. If the operating voltage is higher, the vortex intensity is stronger. The change of streamwise velocity has inhibited the jet vortex intensity.Finally, a preliminary pre-research is held on the application of S shaped inlet's flow control with the passive vortex generator and the active jet vortex generator. For the different wind speed, we have compared the passive vortex generator with the active jet vortex generator on the control characteristic of S shaped inlet's flow feild. The results show that both the passive vortex generator and the active jet vortex generator have played a role in improving homogeneity of S shaped inlet's flow field.
