In actual engineering, absolutely smooth contact surface is not exist, when two objects touch each other, the actual contact surface is micro convex body contact. Contact behavior of rough surface has important influence on friction, wear, lubrication, sealing and heat conduction, is one of the main topics of the tribological research.Firstly, discuss the rough surface statistics and fractal characterization method. In view of the superiority of the fractal method, use fractal method characterize the rough surface profile curve, and set the smooth surface as the non-rigid body, build the rough-non-rigid smooth surface contact model on this basis. According to modeling efficiency problem, traditional single software is very low. In the first place, establish the rough surface curve in MATLAB and extract the key points, use EXCEL process the key points data, then establish surface domain in AutoCAD, put the surface domain into ANSYS, finally complete the element model.Then, establish the rough-rigid smooth surface contact model, at the same time of establishing the rough-non-rigid smooth surface contact model. Calculate the real contact area, the contact compressive stress and the friction stress under the same fractal dimension, the same roughness coefficient, the same fractal dimension, different roughness coefficient characterization rough surface and so on. Analysis the law and the reasons changing with load.Finally, apply the rough-non-rigid smooth surface contact model to the friction research of tool-chip contact. At the same time, consider the influence of frictional heat, analysis the friction state of rake face, obtain time process of the temperature, the contact compressive stress and the equivalent stress ,and the main reasons for the variation. Finally complete the friction state analysis of tool-chip model.
