The Algotithm For Separation And Rectification Of Characters On Maps

For the separation and recognition of the characters inmaps, this paper presents an efficient separation algorithm,which can separate the characters from the other elements inmaps, even they are connected or crossed. In addition, thispaper presents a rectification algorithm, which canautomatically rectify' all characters, which have some angleswith horizon. Some existing efficient OCR software can use therectification result. The algorithms have been successfiilly usedin GIS projects.
