The Body Wave Tomography of East Asia and Adjacent AreaAbstractIn recent years, the researches of earth interior structure by means of seismology have been developing very quickly and the global and local researches with multi-parameters and multiphase readings included are widely carried out. A lot of fruitful development had been made by many Scholars in China, but their aims are mainly concentrated on the local structure no deeper than the uppermost mantle. Funded by the NSF key project (49734150) , this research introduced the technologies and methods which had been developed very well in world wide, making full use of the plenty of natural earthquake travel time dada of China and that from ISC, to do some precursory research of the structure of the crust, uppermost and lowermost mantle under the East Asia and the neighboring Areas, and this will fill the gap between China and International in the field of mantle tomography.The main fruits of this paper are as follows:(I)It's the first time to probe into the velocity structure deeper to the lowermost mantle of the Earth in China. Compared with the similar global research of Harvard University, the structure of the same area in two researches are generally in accordance with each other.(2)The reliability of the forward modeling is based on the accurate 3D ray tracing in spherical coordinates? Compared with the frequently used bending method, this method can present the accurate relationship between the velocity structure and the propagating path and travel times of seismic waves.(3)The parallel algorithm is introduced into the forward modeling. This resolves the problem of time consuming which has been a big problem of shooting method. At the same time, it makes it possible to include huge number of seismic data into the research.(4)To test the reliabilities of the theories and technologies, many theoretical simulation calculations have been conducted in every step of Tomography. For instance, the test ray-tracing and inversion in different theoretical model.(5)A lot of useful data processing programs are coded to facilitate and visualize the analysis of massive of crude data and the inversion result.Actually, More latest developments in this filed should be introduced into this research, such as, the hypocenter relocation, joint inversion of velocity structure and the topography of some discontinuity boundaries, and the joint inversion of multi-phase, equi-area model parameterization and so on.
