On Technology Innovation

Ever since the 1950抯,the theory of technology innovation originated by Schumpeter has caused more and more scholars?attention, and been the highlight of their researches. As a result, the theory of technology innovation has been increasingly improved. Meanwhile, it抯 got widely spread. In China, the study on technology innovation was begun in the early 1 990抯.However, most of the researches were carried out from the angle of economics, or from the angle of science and technology, and defects existed in some way. In the following paper, the theory of technology innovation has been trially expounded from the point of view of technological economics. The whole paper is divided into five parts. The first part is the definition of technology innovation. Since Schumpeter first put forward the idea of technology innovation, experts and scholars at home and abroad have understood it quite differently, so there is not a unified definition about it until now. On the basis of comparison and analysis of the different innovation ideas, the author has given her opinion. The bases of technology innovation are discussed in the second part. Successful technology innovation must be conducted on certain bases, such as tools, methods, skills,and scientific and technical knowledge. Besides, technology I.. innovation also needs the support from the society. The third part is about the technology innovation process. There are two types of technology innovation process. They are individual technology innovation process and technology system innovation process, and the latter is entirely created by the author herself. Driving forces are talked about in the fourth part. It is unanimously agreed that the push of science and technology and the pull of the economic development are the two forces which continuously impel the innovation activities. Apart from these, there is another factor which greatly stimulates the innovation activities m litary competition. Lastly, the paper generalizes the positive influences that the technology innovation has brought about. The significance of technology innovation is profound: it makes our civilization developed, raise the level of productive force, improve human life, and so on.
