The Researches For The Exploration Of Complex Traps In The Northern Tarim Basin

The activity of exploration for oil and gas all around the world can be divided into three stages i. e. early stage for tectonic traps, the middle stage for complex traps and the late stage for lithologic - stratigraphic traps.At present, the exploration and research of complex traps in China are inadequate. Guided with the theories of plate tectonics and complex hydrocarbon system, based on the analysis of geological factors of hydrocarbon pools in the northern area of Tarim basin, the author puts forward the geological background favorable for and the possible areas most suitable for the formation of complex traps. The identification and description of complex traps lead to the recognization of five large and four middle or small complex traps, by the means of the main techniques and methods include the detailed interpretation of seismic profiles, drilling, logging, map compiling based on the depth of sealing surface and on the superimposed relation of stratigraphic lithology over and beneath the unconformity surfaces, and the the use of the reversion of Jason and 3D coherent data. At the same time, the major controlling factors of complex trap oil pool have been analyzed based on the case study of typical oil pools in the paper. Based on the results mentioned above , acted on the prospectingthinking of basin formation ---- hydrocarbon generation----accumulation, theauthor presents the assessment model of exploration target for the differentgeological scale----"province, belt,, trap" , and the "timely > qualitative,quantitative" comprehensive evaluation of complex traps in the area has been done . At last, the prospect areas and fields have been suggested in the paper.
