This paper mainly analyses and introduces the basic fundament and technique of method and applied effects of Transient Electromagnetic Methods according to working practice of author who has been engaged in this geophysical method for many years. Researching and summarizing an effective set of methods of field works and interpretation according to the southern area of China which has dip topography, thin soil and complicated geological circumstance. By using it, we find many big and rich metal ore beds, resolve floodwater and so on. By these effective practice achievements, it proves that Transient Electromagnetic Methods has wide prospect of application and development. The main contents is as follows:The first chapter introduces summarization, it simply introduces the developed general situation and working arrays of Transient Electromagnetic Methods, it also summarizes its main advantages.The second chapter is about the theoretical foundation of Transient Electromagnetic Methods. It detailed analyzes the characteristics of symmetric semi-space, layered telluric medium of Transient Electromagnetic Methods, deduces apparent resistivity (PS) formulae of earlier, later and whole stage channels, it also analyzes and deduces the TEM response effect of local conductive body in high resistance medium and its apparent resistivity formula, inquires into the causing reason, distinguishing method and the way of eliminating or reducing its effect of TEM additional effects. It summarizes the characteristics of physical simulated profiling anomaly of common loop point array, it has conducted meaning and researching value on improving array, choice of parameters and data interpretation.The third chapter is about method technique. By analyzing some main factors which affecting the observation of TEM, it discusses the way ofreducing geological noise, it affirms the relationship between the side length of loop and depth of prospecting, current of supply electricity and the radio of signal and noise. With working practice, it widely and deeply analyzes and summarizes the method effective experiment and the method and procedure of data interpretation of TEM. According to the electromagnetic induction principle of Transient Electromagnetic Methods, it discusses some of the forward theory and calculated method of TEM. All of these must have conductive meanings for my work in the future.The fourth chapter is about effect of application. It simply introduces our present equipments and applying general situation, and analyzes the result of method effective experiments on some Known ore bodies. It mainly expounds its effective questions by using applying achievements which having been achieved on some ore areas. With working practice, it summarizes some items which should be noticed in the application of this method. According to our present applying situation and domestic and abroad development of TEM, it also looks into the future of TEM.The fifth chapter is about conclusion and suggestion.In a word, this paper not only deeply and systematically research Transient Electromagnetic Methods from the theory, but also analyzes and summarizes its method technique and effect of application. It also inquires its existing questions and researching direction. All of these must improve myself very big in the research and application of Transient Electromagnetic Methods technique in my future.
