The microscopic and submicroscopic structrure of the supranchial organ of clarias fuscus were studied in detail by using the microscope, electron microscope, histochemical and perfusion techniques. The basibranchial bone of the second and the fourth gill arch form petioliform .The branches of the petioliform take shape arborescent and have ubisch process in the end. The blood of supranchial organ originates from the second and the fourth afferent branchial artery. The research proved that the supranchial organ got in touch with gill.In microscope, there are a lot of lamellar process which arrange tightly on the surface of ubisch process. The petioliform and ubisch process consist of epithelial N connective tissue ^ blood vessel and cartilage. The cartilage constitutes the axis and supports the supranchial organ. There are blood vessels in the connective tissue. The epithelial consists of nonrespiratory celK mucous celK respiratory celK supporting cell . Lots of mucous cells are in the supranchial organ, some mucous cell secret neutral mucous, the other secrete acid mucous. In submicroscope, respiratory cell is flat, there are microvillus on it s surface, and lots of chondriosome in the cytoplasm and some Gdgi10complex distribute near the nuclear. The other cell organ has not been found. The long cytoplasm of supporting cell forms blood sinus. When the air exchanges in the blood sinus, they must go through the cytoplasm of respiratory cells supporting cell and ground membrane. Nonrespiratory cells have microvillus and lots of lipid droplet in the cytoplasm.
