In the present paper, the theoretical and experimental studies of the damage detection are carried out by using dynamic method, The sensitivity and application of several damage detection methods are discussed. The cantilever beam is used to testify the methods by numerical calculation and experimental analyses. A new method of strain curvature mode is proposed, relative to the displacement mode. Conversion formula between the strain mode and displacement mode is induced for the cantilever beam. Present residual force method is improved and the new method is better than the old one for the engineering practice.
