The Visual Analysis Of Plant Scenery In Urban Lakefront Regions

Along with the adjustment of industrial structures in the world, environmental protection, city ecological environment improvement and the increase of the public requirement with outdoor activities such as travel and leisure, the redevelopment of urban waterfront region brings the world into a new stage. Most of the research concerning urban waterfront region is based on city planning in macroscopic even if a few of researches to planted landscape in microscopic, also just stay around the general city park plant designing theories, the research didn't combine with the character of waterfront region together.The aim of this paper is to provide a theory guidance to the planting design in the lakefront regions, on the bases of the site-survey of planted landscape in lake-side areas in Wuhan city, and the domestic and international research results concerning waterfront, plant designing and vision analyses.At first, the author analyzed general situation and each landscape elements and visual effects of 18 main lakes in Wuhan City downtown , and put great emphasis on landscape character of pool, marsh and river beside of the lake, and the different quality , flat surface and cross section of shore. Furthermore, the author discussed the to vision character and constructing methods of 6 types of lakefront landscapes include open space, half open space, closing-space, cover-space, deep-space and mix-space. Based on the different direction of view and water and relation of water and land, the author divided lake landscapes into vertical single-water landscape, parallel poly- water landscape, vertical poly-water landscape, parallel single-water landscape and bird's-eye view landscape. Addition to, the author Discussed the effect of distance between a given vantage point and opposite shore to plant landscape's visual character, then give the key point of plant designing in different lake landscape mode and Researched the effect to visual landscape caused by all kinds of plant design method from the plant on land and water. Finally, the author discussed the problems on lake-side plant landscape in wuhan and put forward some suggestions on plant design.
