Linear analysis is used to solve the radiation problems in time domain for the forced motion of a non-wall sided body and two-dimensional wave generated by rocker flap wavemaker. Some preliminary investigations are made in the simulation of two-dimensional free surface and radiation conditions.A new numerical simulation method of the free surface condition is used in this paper. We transform the linear free surface condition from the differential form into the integral form by twice integrating the equation with respect to time. The discrete format of the expression is employed by using discrete segments on free surface. Two simulation methods of radiation condition are used in this paper. The first one is the matching method and the other one is the MTF (multi-transmitting formula) method.Comparisons are made between present method and published results for a wall and non-wall sided circular cylinder in heave and sway. Theoretical and numerical results for two-dimensional wave generated by rocker flap wavemaker are also given. In all cases the comparisons are excellent.
