The resource environment of salt lake is one of the important scientific research tasks with realistic meaning and long-term meaning in contemporary construction. The natural geography condition of Zabuye saline lake which is located in Qinghai-Tibet plateau is very special. Since the new generation, Zabuye saline lake has experienced the fast development course, and has already become the salt lake shrunk strongly now. Leave over various kinds of more relevant sedimentaries(ancient bank lines,sand dykes, etc)which are the positive evidences that lake evolved in the course of the evolution of Zabuye saline lake. We can discern them accurately through TM images.This text is based on the investigation of territory resources of Qinghai-Tibet plateau by Chinese Geology Investigation Bureau .We give full play to the character and advantage of RS and CIS. Through the process and translation of images in 1989 and in 1999 two time phase, combining forefather' s basic geology data , ground form data and the examined annual data .Giving full to the advantage of geographical information in fictitious analysis and visual three-dimension, We count the different volumes, areas and the shrunk speeds of the periods that salt lake evolved fast and accurately. We also set up the image interpretation sign of Zabuye saline lake .analyze the reason why salt lake withered and the dynamic changes of salt deposit zonations now. All this will offer the scientific basis for the change of the environment of salt lake at present and the exploitation of resources. Through the above research, we can draw the foiling conclusions:(1) Since 27000 years, the volume of Zabuye saline lake has accumulated and dwindled by 99. 985%. the area has dwindled by about 97. 524%. Since the past 5000 years , it is the most serious period that salt lake withered.(2) From 1989 to 1999, the deposit zonations have changed .the width including borax mud dust has increased nearly 260m. The area which is rich in boron lithium potassium has increased nearly 2.8km2.(3) The study has shown that it is feasible that introducing Remote Sensing and Geography Information System to the application and analysis of the evolution of the salt lake. The combination of remote sensing data and geographical information each other give great expansion in the range and depth of application in salt lake scientific field.
