The area of upper reaches of Luanhe river is located in north of Hebei Pronvice, China. It lies between 41 47' -42 06' N and 116 51' -117 45' E, covering an area of about 50637.4hm2. The area belongs to the temperate continental monsoon climate. The regional vegetation is mainly coniferous forests, deciduous broad-leaved forest and meadow. Precipitation is plenty and the fertility of soil is good in the area. Xiaoluanhe river, Yimatu river and Yixunhe river run through the area, and they join into Luanhe river which provides water resource for Tianjin on Panjiakou reservoir.Hebei's complicated terrain and its features breed rich plant resources. Many botanists have made much of the seed plant in this area. However, about the research of bryophytes, some people only reported fragmentarily before. In fact, the systematic research on bryoflora in Hebei should trace back to 1995. From then on, Professor J.-C Zhao and his colleagues have been investigating and collecting bryophytes in this district, some study results on the bryoflora of Hebei having been published one after another. This thesis taking the lead in systematically studying bryoflora in other areas, is a part of the comprehensive research of bryophytes in Hebei, which will provide datum for the statistics and analysis of bryophytes along with exploit and utility of plant resources in Hebei, which will provide the first-hand material for the compilation of the ((Flora bryophytarum Hebeiensis)} .The thesis is principally based on the outdoors investigation and specimens collected by author and her colleagues in the area of upper reaches of Luanhe river from September 2001 to August 2003. 201 species (including subspecies, varieties and forms) of bryophytes have been found, which belonging to 83 genera in 34 families, accounting for 27.2%, 12.39% and 5.83% of the total families, genera and species in China respectively. Among the 201 species, there are 11 species of liverworts belonging to 8 genera in 7 families, 175 species, 1 subspecies, 12 varieties and 1 form of mosses belonging to 75 genera in 27 families(Tab. 1). 6 species and 1 variety, namely Philomotis lancifolia Mitt., Philonotis seriaia Mitt.,Orthotrichum crenulatum Mitt.,Amblystegium riparium(Hedw.)B.S.G.,Calliergon giganteum (Schimp.) Kindb., Calliergonella cuspidate (Hedw.) Loesk. and Campylium stellatum van protensum (Brid.) Bryhn. ex Grout, as new records of Hebei Province have been found in the area.According to the investigation of bryophyte, 6 dominant families (over 10 species) consist of 133 species and 42 genera. These figures represent about 17.65%, 50.60% and 66.17% of the corresponding statistics for the local bryophyte flora. 11 dominant genera (over 5 species) consist 88 species take 13.25% of the total local genera and 43.78% of the total local species. The generic similarity coefficients is good for the comparison of similarities between different floras. According to the comparison between the area of upper reaches of Luanhe river and other 10 areas, the area of upper reaches of Luanhe river, Mt. Xiaowutai, Mt tuoliang and Mt Xiaotianchi have the higher similarity coefficients; while the area of upper reaches of Luanhe river and Mt. Jiudonglu have very low similarity coefficient.Accounting to relational foreign document and base on the opinion of Professor Wu Zheng-yi about the areal-types of Chinese genera of seed plants, the 201 species in the can be classified into 10 types. North temperate elements make up the majority, approximating to 65.09% of the entirely known bryoflora in the area of upper reaches of Luanhe river, and next comes East Asian elements, accounting for 14.20%. All temperate elements/not including 11 Endemic to China and 30 Cosmopolitans, add up to 156 species, which take 77.11% of all the entirely know bryoflora in the area. However, there are only 5 Subtropical and Tropical elements. To all appearances, the bryoflora of the area of upper reaches of Luanhe river is provided with obvious temperate characters.Floristic Spectrum Analysis is a good m...
