On the basis of the nonlinear study achievement of cylindrical helical spring, there is a new analysis for conical helical spring with big deformation in this article. The nonlinear solution is applied to conical helical spring. Classic theory of conical helical spring is revised, and the analytic formula of nonlinear theory is derived. The nonlinear theory of cylindrical helical spring is verified by the accurate measurement of one. And the nonlinear theory formula of conical helical spring is very similar to the one of cylindrical helical spring, and therefore the nonlinear theory suit conical helical spring with big deformation as well.The spring has favorable softness, can absorb a lot of mechanical energy. It can be easily design well. According to the request of variant design, namely by selecting reasonably the material and parameter, and receive the good synthetic function (include the axes deformation, lateral deformation, stress strength, fatigue strength, bearing pressure stability and dynamic characteristic). In the article, helical spring (cylindrical helical spring, conical helical spring) with big deformation is analyzed by theory analysis and formula calculation. Experiment data shows the characteristic curve of spring to be repeated well and to exist for the nonlinear in course of the loading and unloading. The theory calculation and experiment data explain strongly that theory( linear theory) of circular close and loose coil spring is not accurate, and therefore proposed analytic formula of new nonlinear theory in the article.Now the main conclusions in the article are given:1 .In this article, it summed up engineering spring . And the sorting , material, structures, using and mechanics characteristic curve of various springs are analyzed and described.2. It described classic mechanics theory of cylindrical helical spring and conical helical spring. Main theory formulas and calculating courses are given. Linear characteristic of these theories is shown.3.It is not accurate that engineering springs are linear characteristic. It should be corrected. And it is respectively analyzed and studied that cylindrical helical spring and conical helical spring which is described in the second chapter. The nonlinear theory of helical spring is given at the first time. Calculating courses of nonlinear theory formula are also given. And the operation error of nonlinear theory is analyzed.4.Experiment data of cylindrical helical spring is analyzed. Numerical value approaching technique is adopted. The accurate measurement results of cylindrical helical spring compared with calculating one of nonlinear theory, and therefore two kinds of the results is very coincident.5.It is that multiple component helical springs consist of a few coaxial cylindrical helical spring is analyzed. The theory formula that is conveniently used in engineering is given at the first time.In short, the research theory, analysis method and calculating formula can provide some basis for the using of helical spring. Thereby these methods have engineering practicality widely.
